Supervised Driving Log

Parents or guardians are responsible for making certain that their teen has completed no less than 60 hours of supervised driving, with 10 of those hours completed at night to advance to Level 2 and 12 hours with 6 of those hours completed at night to advance to Level 3. Sample driving logs to track this time have been made available in this guide. Your local DMV will provide you the applicable log for your phase in the licensing process or you may visit www.ncdot.gov/dmv to download it. The log will help to ensure that your teen has a diverse supervised driving experience. You want your teen to be as prepared as possible for their Junior Operator’s License.

GDL systems

Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) systems are intended to provide teen drivers with practice under the safest conditions, exposing them to more situations only as their skills and experience grow.
