A Message from AAA
Creating Lifelong Safe Drivers
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As a parent of three grown children, I still remember when each of them got a driver’s license. I was happy for them and knew how excited they were about this new level of independence. I also felt the fear of letting them behind the wheel on their own.
We’re proud to sponsor The Parent’s Supervised Driving Program, as we understand the importance of supporting both parents and teens in safe driving. As a parent, the single most important step you can take to protect your teen is to be actively involved in the learning-to-drive experience. According to research, teens value the opinions of their parents most of all — even if it doesn’t always seem like it. That’s why participating in this program and sharing your knowledge and experience about safe driving is so important.
At AAA, our commitment to helping teens drive safely dates back to the 1940s. That was the start of our successful driver training program, which continues today. Through research and education, we’ve developed classroom curriculum and in-car techniques to help prepare teens for a lifetime of safe driving. More recently, we developed a free program that aims to deter teens from driving under the influence of marijuana called “Shifting Gears: The Blunt Truth About Marijuana and Driving.” Since 2023, all driver’s education courses in Massachusetts have included the Shifting Gears curriculum in video form. (For more information, you can visit AAA.com/ShiftingGears.)
We all have a vested interest in ensuring that the teens in our lives are safe when behind the wheel. You can trust AAA to be there for your teen with reliable roadside assistance — and you get added peace of mind knowing they’re safe on the road.
Together, we can make a difference in creating lifelong safe drivers.
