A Message from University Medical Center New Orleans

The Power of Education and Prevention

At University Medical Center New Orleans, we see the consequences of poor driving decisions every day as a Level 1 Trauma Center. We also understand the power of education and prevention. This is why we’re proud to be a sponsor of the 2024 Parent’s Supervised Driving Program, a crucial initiative to empower parents and equip teens with the tools for safe and responsible driving.

For over 25 years, University Medical Center has been a champion of teen safety through our award-winning Sudden Impact Program. Implemented and supported by trauma centers, hospitals, Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and Louisiana State Police, Sudden Impact uses powerful presentations and real-life stories to educate teens about the consequences of poor driving decisions.

Your teen’s journey to becoming a responsible driver begins with you. You are your teenager’s first and most important role model for safe driving. Your own habits become theirs, so buckle up every time, put down the phone, and demonstrate attentive, cautious driving.

The 2024 Parent’s Supervised Driving Program booklet will provide you with the tools and knowledge to guide your teen towards responsible driving. We hope that you will learn the latest guidelines, utilize your coaching skills, and create a safe space for open communication about the risks and rewards of the road.

Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can raise awareness to lessen risky behaviors behind the wheel of a vehicle and provide safe experiences to reduce the number of motor vehicle crashes.

Sincerely,

John Nickens IV
