A Message from the Massachusetts Army National Guard

Parents,

I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to present you with just a few of the offerings of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. The men and women of your Guard are parents, they are leaders, they are educators, and they are students. Our Soldiers live here, learn here, and serve here; they are part of your community.

It is not only our duty, but our privilege to be able to turn some of our immense resources inward to make the Commonwealth a better place to live. We are invested in our communities and in enhancing the safety and education of the young people of the Commonwealth.

The betterment of our cities and towns across Massachusetts is always at the forefront of our minds. As such, we take pride in our ability to work closely with organizations and groups dedicated to the same. Our Soldiers are present throughout the state and they stand ready to assist these collaborative efforts. It is my pleasure to announce a brand-new initiative dedicated to improving the safety of our motorways.

Our Impaired Driving Prevention Program has been designed from the ground up to assist educators and law enforcement personnel in teaching young drivers about the very possible negative impacts of impaired driving. This program consists of five independent, fully researched and tested learning seminars which have been used by police, educational institutions, and highway safety agencies across the country. These individual lessons can be brought to your student drivers at their schools and driver training courses at no cost in any combination to best fit your needs and lesson plan. We have adapted many of these lessons to be conducted virtually.

Our team of trained instructors have developed this program as part of our community outreach and betterment efforts in order to encourage participation and attention for lasting life lessons. The Impaired Driving Prevention Program is one of over a dozen curriculum-based educational courses we make available to our schools and communities. We offer multiple STEM programs (including robotics, coding, and cyber

defense), Health & Fitness challenges, and a variety of career and college planning seminars. Feel free to reach out to learn how you can bring any of them to your children or students at no cost. You can also visit us at MANationalGuard.net to request a catalog or follow us @MANATIONALGUARD to view these programs in action across the Bay State!

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to working together to improve the safety education of the Commonwealth.

Sincerely,

Lieutenant Colonel Timothy P. Murphy
